Hampton-based craft brewery and distillery Caiseal Beer and Spirits Co. received silver medals for all three of their spirits—vodka, gin and single malt—entered at the 2019 American Distilling Institute (ADI) annual conference held in Denver, Colo. on March 19–20. ADI is the oldest and largest trade association dedicated to craft distilling in the world and has been hosting their annual conferences since they were founded in 2003.
The hybrid craft brewery and distillery Caiseal (pronounced cash-ul) is housed in The Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery, a restored 1936 Virginia National Guard armory located at 504 N. King St. in Hampton, which opened in February 2018. The Caiseal Spirits Tasting Room opened in June of 2018 and currently offers Caiseal brand vodka, gin and single malt, each of which are made on site.
As a producer of both craft beer and spirits, Caiseal’s Head Brewer and Distiller Todd Emr is able to create unique flavor profiles by utilizing brewing techniques to enhance the distillation process. Caiseal’s active barrel aging programming for beer and spirits will be releasing its first aged spirit Caiseal Single Malt Whiskey in the near future.
Caiseal spirits can be tasted and purchased at The Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery tasting room and ordered from any Virginia ABC store. Learn more here.
