Esprit Decor has everything you need to bring the beachfront to your home

Esprit Decor has been delivering quality home furnishings at affordable prices to Hampton Roads homes and beyond for nearly 40 years. From living rooms, home offices, bedrooms, and dining areas to outside furniture, accents and decor, storage and display, and kid-themed furniture, their showroom and warehouse are brimming with ideas to set the perfect mood and theme for any room in your home.

More to the point, when you’re looking to bring the outside world into the design of your home, Esprit Decor is the area’s premier place to shop for coastal-style products. “We have always bought a lot of coastal products because of where we are,” says Ricky Christian, one of three second-generation owners who carries on the work started by his mother Sally when she opened Esprit Decor, along with his brother Mark and sister Beth. “So, we thought it would be a good idea to actually promote the fact that we have a lot of coastal products.”

In addition to coastal products that shoppers can find throughout the showroom, there’s a part of the store dedicated specifically to the coastal lifestyle.

So, what exactly is coastal? According to Ricky and his sister Beth Keenehan, it could be anything from artwork with natural scenery to pillows, lamps, furniture, and accessories that feature coastal views, elements, denizens, or feelings.

“We have a lot of nautical themes,” says Ricky. “Beachscapes are definitely popular, and we have things like lighthouse lamps, slipcover-style sofas, chairs that have—for example—starfish, or coral sea life, and other items that are going to work really well in a beach-themed or coastal house. I’m looking at coastal prints right now of egrets and herons. Artwork and furniture with coastal themes like turtles, seascapes, fish, anchors…pretty much anything you would consider coastal, we have it.”

Beth adds that what they offer isn’t just coastal cottage. They also have upscale coastal resort-style furniture and artwork—what Ricky calls coastal modern. In addition, there is a lot of furniture that doesn’t necessarily have to be coastal, but is painted with bright colors such as teal, aqua, baby blue, and sea glass green.

“We have a lot of painted furniture and natural finishes that someone could certainly design around,” said Ricky. “There are a lot of items here that lean toward coastal, but if you don’t want to do a total coastal feel, the product still works.”

In addition to being able to buy from Esprit Decor’s extensive showroom, customers can also special order items from the more than 300 manufacturers that the company represents. And if you stop by the showroom and can’t make up your mind what to get, designers are available to help pull everything together, whether you’re starting from scratch or trying to integrate a coastal theme with your current furnishings.
