Tony Hawk’s Jackalope Festival Coming to Virginia Beach

Those young local skaters who clamored for a chance to watch a still teenage Tony Hawk drop into the halfpipe at Mount Trashmore in the 1980s will get an opportunity to bring their kids—or maybe even their grandkids —to see the G.O.A.T. in action close to home. “Hey, what’s up everybody, I’m Tony Hawk and I’ll be in Virginia Beach for the Jackalope action sports festival to do a Vert Showdown with some of my legendary friends,” Hawk announced via video at the most recent Virginia Beach State of the City address in March.

This will be the U.S debut of the Jackalope Festival, which has previously been held in Canada. The festival will take place June 2-4 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and, in addition to skateboarding events and competitions throughout the weekend, the free event will feature bouldering, skimboarding, moto X, base jumping and volleyball and as well as pop-up shops and food trucks. Local skater Collin Graham will be among those in the Vert Showdown.
