ESPRIT DECOR OFFERS TAILORED DESIGN SERVICES TO HELP CUSTOMERS ACHIEVE THEIR DINING ROOM DREAMS
For some, an empty room breathes inspiration and opportunity, but for most, the large, barren space leaves us with more questions than answers. That’s where the experts at Esprit Decor come in.
The design specialists at the Chesapeake-based retailer are trained to bring customers’ dream living spaces to life. Esprit Decor houses an extensive collection of industry-leading product lines, each of which carries an array of pieces to fill every room in your home. The shop’s niche for devising tailor-made dining spaces, however, is what truly sets them apart from other stores in the region.
Ricky Christian, co-owner of Esprit Decor and son of founder, Sally Christian, highlights three of the most prolific manufacturers in the custom dining world. “Esprit Decor boasts several custom dining options including Bassett Benchmade, Canadel and Amisco,” says Christian. “[Each vendor] carries multiple finish, style, size and fabric options.”
Christian highlights the selling points of each brand. “Bassett Benchmade is a more traditional-style collection that prizes itself on larger tables made from solid wood and the option of live edges on some. Canadel, also made mostly of solid wood, offers seven unique collections from traditional to contemporary, and everything in between,” he says. “Amisco leans more towards a transitional or contemporary feel with, like all of the others, a plethora of options from which to choose. Amisco offers more mixed media styles for tops, which include metal, glass, wood and starstone, and wood or fabrics for chairs.”
The Esprit Decor team works tirelessly with each customer to reduce the breadth of customizable options down to a singular, perfect fit. “We ask a lot of preliminary questions like How big is the room? How many seats are you hoping for?
Or, Will you need a matching server or buffet to accompany the dining set?,” explains Susanne Hoidal, president of Riverhouse Interiors, Inc. “We might start a customer with Bassett, but as we narrow down their search, transition over to Canadel.”
Of the three manufacturers, Canadel appears to have the greatest flexibility in customizable options. Hoidal says, “Canadel has around 30 different finishes, leg options, pedestal options and more. You can pretty much build any piece to meet your specifications, same with chairs and benches.”
Ricky explains that when shopping for personalized pieces, you’ll rarely see your dream furnishings on the display floor. Customers can, however, build virtual mock-ups using unique design programs on both the Canadel and Amisco websites. Both Canada-based brands allow customers to piece together renderings from the comfort of their homes, or at Esprit Decor under the guidance of the store’s well-schooled team of professionals. “We often pull up the website and walk customers through the design process. We also have samples of all the fabrics and finishes on the floor,” says Hoidal.
All three manufacturers – Bassett Benchmade, Canadel and Amisco – carry their own sets of leathers, woods and fabrics to choose from. Esprit Decor takes customization a step further by partnering with each vendor to accommodate orders requesting Customer’s Own Material, or COM for short. Esprit Decor shoppers can customize their dining table, then adorn bench seats with a family-favorite fabric. Christian advises customers to anticipate longer build-out times for orders containing COMs, especially with international companies such as Canadel and Amisco.
“In general, however, many of our custom pieces can be designed and completed in as little as eight weeks,” says Christian.
With quicker-than-average turnaround times and innovate technologies, it’s no wonder Esprit Decor has asserted itself as a top retailer in the state. “With us being a family-owned business and having been in the business for as long as Esprit Decor has, we have sufficient staff and knowledge to assist customers better than any other store in the region,” adds sales representative Melissa Thomas. “Our large selection, personalized service and product knowledge are what truly set us apart.”
