We’ve long cherished Jessy’s Taqueria in Ocean View, known for their authentic Mexican cuisine, superb guacamole and genuine Mexican tienda and bakery next door. This adoration inspired us to try Jessy’s Taco Bistro in Ghent, open for just under two years. Although many of the menu options are the same for both restaurants, Jessy’s Taco Bistro offers additional entree selections in a more upscale atmosphere.
Aiming to try something new, we opted for the Surf and Turf: marinated and grilled skirt steak, homemade chorizo, six delicately breaded and fried jumbo shrimp and buttery lobster tail seasoned with a sprinkle of cracked pepper. This was accompanied by pico de gallo, avocado, citrusy cactus, tender, sweet Vidalia onion and fire-roasted jalapeño, along with elote, which is corn on the cob drizzled with chili lime aioli (a popular street food in Mexico).
To pair, we recommend Jessy’s Iguana-Rana-Rita, featuring a refreshing splash of melon and agave nectar with a nice hint of salt and lime.
