The former Dick’s Sporting Goods location at Virginia Beach Town Center will soon be sporting in a whole new way. Apex Entertainment, a family entertainment company that originated in Marlborough, Mass., is scheduled to open its fourth U.S. location there, featuring a host of fun activities for kids, parents and laser tag lovers of all ages.
The 84,000-square-foot, multi-level facility will offer indoor go karting, bowling, laser tag, escape rooms, ropes courses, arcade and redemption games, sports simulators, axe throwing, mini golf, bumper cars, virtual reality and event meeting space. Each Apex location also includes a full-service dining experience in The Pit Stop Tavern featuring a family-friendly comfort food favorites pizza, burgers and wraps as well vegetarian and gluten-free options and, yes, a full bar including handcrafted cocktails for adults.
“With our unique concept we offer something for all ages and every member of the family,” noted Marcus Kemblowski, Chief Operating Officer of Apex Entertainment, in a recent press release. “Our mission is to create a memorable experience for all guests and have a strong presence within the community.”
As of press time, the company was in the process of finalizing its COVID-19 safety procedures for the opening, which they indicated could include “personal protective equipment available to all guests and staff, social distancing practices, and heightened awareness to sanitation, handwashing and disinfecting” and would be updated to reflect any timely changes recommended at the state level.
