Cova Cocktail 2022 at Virginia MOCA

A recap of the 2022 CoVa Cocktail Event Featuring Tequila Herradura Ultra

On September 28, 2022, over 250 guests came to the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) to witness and taste unique cocktails crafted by 11 different local mixologists. Each mixologist created a cocktail featuring Tequila Herradura Ultra, as well as a spirit-free (non-alcoholic) cocktail. Guests voted on their favorites, crowning Nick Matamoros of the soon-to-be-opening Cork and Bull Chophouse as the People’s Choice Best Mocktail and Civil Libation’s April Cacation as the People’s Choice Best Cocktail.

There were also three guest judges: Allen Fabijan (Some Guy Named Allen) of US106.1, Lisa Davenport of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Towne Realty and Hannah Serrano of TASTE. Each mixologist formally presented their Tequila Herradura Ultra cocktail to the judges. After deliberation and careful consideration, James Orlanda of The Atlantic on Pacific was pronounced the winner of the Judges Choice Best Cocktail.

Thank you to all of our participating mixologists: Nick Matamoros of Cork and Bull Chophouse (opening soon), Whitney Hoag of The Public House, Jenifer Banks of Decoys Seafood, April Cacation of Civil Libation, Kelsy Lee of River Stone Chophouse, Val Martinez of Chorizo, Sophie Magnotti of Amber Ox Public House, Christopher Glover of Pacifica, Samantha Jackson of Union Taco, James Orlanda of The Atlantic on Pacific and Ken Howe on behalf of Hunter Heri from Glass Light Hotel & Gallery.

Special thanks to Jeff with Colonial DJs for the entertainment, Creative Catering of Virginia for catering the event, as well Premier Events and Alpha Lit – Marquee Letters for the décor.
