If you talk to the thousands of families who have worked with Ginny Phillips, these three words sum up their experience. Her personal touch to lending has helped families throughout Coastal Virgina achieve their homeownership dreams.

As a Senior Mortgage Banker at Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group, Ginny’s expertise has helped thousands of families across the region achieve their homeownership dreams.

What makes your role as a mortgage banker special?

“Putting folks into homes is about more than financing. It’s about building pride in a community.”

As a 20+ year resident of Yorktown, Ginny has devoted her life and work to her community. Among the 4,000+ homeowners she has served are teachers, first responders, veterans, families, and countless other professionals – the very community members who make Hampton Roads so special. Ginny was recently honored with Atlantic Bay’s Gold Lifetime Achievement Award for over $1 billion in loans produced.

In her 13 years with Atlantic Bay, Ginny established herself as one of the top mortgage bankers in the region. She was recognized by Scotsman Guide as a 2025 Top Originator, Mortgage Women Magazine as a 2025 Mortgage Star, and Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors as a 2024 Affiliate of the Year.

How does your experience growing up with parents in the Air Force, dealing with constant moves, new communities, and rapid changes, inform your work as a mortgage banker?

“Having experienced what a military move means — how it works and how it affects the family — is not something you can teach. You have to live it. I love being able to share my knowledge with military buyers and give back in any way I can.”

Outside of helping families on their homeownership journey, Ginny is an active volunteer with the Roc Solid Foundation. Ginny helps Roc Solid pack “ready bags” for unexpected hospital stays and build play structures for kids battling cancer so they can create happy memories at home. As a cancer survivor herself, Roc Solid’s mission to support children in their battle against cancer hits close to home.

For Ginny, every loan represents more than a transaction—it’s a family planting roots, a child gaining stability, a community growing stronger. Through her work at Atlantic Bay, she’s not just facilitating mortgages; she’s building the foundation for Hampton Roads’ future, one family at a time.

What are you looking forward to in the housing industry?

“In my 20 years in the finance industry, I have never been more excited about the mortgage industry than I am today.”
