It took about 760,000 gallons of water and several days to fill the eight-lane, 50-meter competition pool at the new Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. Now it’s time to dive in. Situated adjacent to the Hampton Roads Convention Center and Hampton Coliseum, this state-of-the-art facility is the largest of its kind in Virginia and a game changer for competitive swimming and other water sports in Coastal Virginia.
The Aquaplex is expected to host Mid-Atlantic and national swimming and diving events, artistic swimming, water polo and more, making it a boon for local aquatic athletes and sports tourism from outside the region. In addition to the main competition pool, there is a warm-up pool, three- and one-meter springboards for diving, 1,500 elevated seats for spectator viewing area and 760 seats on-deck for competitors.
