Since 2000, Blue Pete’s Restaurant has served as a launch point for kayakers embarking on a spectacular sunset cruise with Surf & Adventure Co. Upon their return, guests are invited to explore beyond Blue Pete’s dock and into the eatery’s creekside dining room. The restaurant’s robust list of seafood-inspired offerings creates the perfect end to an evening on the water.
Kayakers paddle through Back Bay’s constellation of waterways including Hell’s Point Creek, North Bay and Muddy Creek. Tour guides call attention to Pungo’s unique ecosystem, identifying native species including osprey, wax myrtle, snakes and turtles.
“There is a lot of history here in Sandbridge, which includes the wildlife and plants,” says Eric Coulson, a Sandbridge native and supervisor of Surf & Adventure Co.’s parent company, Ocean Rentals. “Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge consists of over 9,200 acres and immensely diverse habitats,”
The Blue Pete’s Sunset Tour is one of three Back Bay tours offered by Surf & Adventure Co. Guests can also opt for the Back Bay Tour or the Lunch Box Tour which features boxed lunch from the nearby Back Bay Gourmet. All tours are weather permitting. Learn more at surfandadventure.com.
