Visit Yorktown in 2025

What sets Yorktown apart as a destination is that it is a thriving modernday mecca, while also being a preservation of the colonial era. Visitors to Yorktown have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in America’s story as they participate in present-day history-making.

Yorktown Market Days are one of the many ways visitors can participate in this melding of the timeline. Yorktown was a thriving port town in colonial times, and Market Days are a harkening back to the era of trading goods down by the riverfront. Each Saturday morning from April through October, you will find around 50 vendors selling a variety of wares—from produce and baked goods to handmade soaps, skincare, jewelry, and candles. To add to the fun, there are themed markets throughout the season with special activities for the whole family.

Another way Yorktown bridges past and present is commemorating significant events that occurred on the battlefield and waterways of the town during the Revolution. In preparation for the Virginia250 celebration—the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—Yorktown is planning to commemorate several milestones that led up to the 1781 victory in Yorktown and, ultimately, the end of the Revolutionary War. This will include the Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, the Yorktown Victory Market, and an exciting weekend of events to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Yorktown Tea Party.
