The gourmet burgers were juicy, and the craft beer was flowing at Coastal Virginia Magazine’s CoVa Battle of the Burgers held at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach on May 20. More than 1,200 guests enjoyed a day of food, fun and live entertainment from Pleading the 5th Band. Attendees also shopped from a variety of specialty vendors at our Arts & Craft Vendor Village while sampling delicious burgers from 11 participating local restaurants.
As always, the competition was fierce. This year the big prize for our VIP Judges’ Choice Award for Best Burger went to Clayton’s in Virginia Beach, who also took home top honors as First Place in the People’s Choice category, for their popular “Butter Burger.” Saté Kitchen was awarded People’s Choice Second Place for their “Tina Had a Lil Lamb Burger,” and FIREBREW Bar & Grill snagged Third for their “Bourbon, Mushroom & Onion Burger.” Hardywood Park Craft Brewery also took home the prize for Peoples’ Choice Best Brewery. In honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, net proceeds from donations for water at the event benefitted NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Coastal Virginia.Â
