Only at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront can you cozy up in an igloo, sip a cocktail and soak in sweeping Atlantic Ocean views from a rooftop bar. The Igloo Lounge is the hotel’s newest installation and is the ideal winter spot for beach bums.
Carlene Sharkey, director of restaurants at the Hilton, says the igloo experience has been a huge hit with guests since its debut on New Year’s Eve. “It has been very exciting to see an idea come to life and how positively it has impacted our guests to [visit] our property,” she says. “Our goal was to offer something that was better, different and special to this area and I am so proud of our team for making it happen.”
The four windproof, water resistant and 100% recyclable igloos sit on the deck of Sky Bar, the hotel’s members-only club. Until March 29, however, the rooftop bar is open to the public and the igloos are available for rent for parties of seven or less. The cozy ice pods are heated and fully furnished with modern décor, plush pillows, soft candles and sparkling chandeliers. “Each igloo has a Bluetooth speaker so guests can DJ their own party while sipping craft cocktails and dine on chef specials like the charcuterie board,” adds Sharkey.
The charcuterie board, along with water service and a dedicated server, is included in the $75 rental fee. Rental periods last for 90 minutes and can be reserved between 5 and 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday or between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The next pop-up Igloo Lounge is scheduled for November 2020 through March 2021.
