ICL stands for implantable collamer lens. Collamer is a soft, flexible polymeric material that is biocompatible with the collagen in the cornea, so it works with your natural eye to improve vision. Think of it as a permanent contact lens without the daily maintenance. Once it is in place, it does not move and you will not feel it.
Is the EVO ICL Procedure Painful?
Not at all. The procedure is performed under numbing eye drops, and most patients report little to no discomfort. It typically takes about 20-30 minutes, and recovery is quick. In fact, recovery time is similar to laser vision correction procedures due to a small incision and absence of sutures.
Is EVO ICL Permanent?
EVO ICL provides long-term vision correction, but it’s also reversible if needed. The lens is designed to stay in place for a lifetime, but it can be removed or upgraded if needed.
Who Are the Best Candidates for EVO ICL?
Typically, the best candidates are between 21–45 years old with -3.00 to -20.00 moderate to severe nearsightedness and have healthy eyes with a prescription that has not changed considerably in the last 12 months. The best candidates have not previously undergone corrective eye surgery.
