Gone are the days when a black wedding gown would have been considered ghoulish or goth. Some of the world’s most sophisticated designers and fashion-forward brides are eschewing the traditional white wardrobe—popularized by Queen Victoria way back in 1840—for edgy, elegant frocks in alternative colors of all sorts including the ultimate power palette: black, black and more black.
Here, we feature several stunning black gowns and a few of their classic and equally stunning counterparts in wonderous white. While not every bride will want to make the bold choice to go black with their dress, a touch of mystery and formality can be added to any affair by incorporating black as a signature element in everything from flowers to accessories to the cake and wedding invitations.
Our models, Sarah Cowell and Megan Mollett, were styled by Milk & Honey Bride and Misty Saves the Day and photographed by Mike Dragon at The Historic Post Office in Downtown Hampton, which has been beautifully reimagined as a premiere wedding and event venue located along Hampton’s picturesque waterfront. This love letter is in the mail!
