Grown With Love

Becky Devlin of Roost Flowers drew inspiration from her own wedding when styling this warm and rustic intimate affair. She chose Virginia Beach’s Commune, a local food-focused café next to her flower shop as backdrop for her cozy and urban vision.

The interior boasts gorgeous details such as woodwork done by local carpenters and handmade bar stools created by a local artisan. The exterior is a great modern contrast with black stucco walls and huge windows. Devlin collaborated with Corrine and Paxton, stylists from the Virginia Beach West Elm, on the table settings and styling. They picked white plates for a clean look with a matte black bowl to reflect the black exterior of the building as well as Commune’s metal chairs. Silver accents such as the salt and pepper shakers, hammered silver flatware, and hammered metal tray on the champagne bar added sophistication to the casual setting. Geometric shapes in some of the tabletop accessories lent a modern flair, and the soft gray runner looked perfect with the charcoal gray menus.

The invitation suite featured a botanical design as a nod to the produce from Commune’s gardens. For the florals, Devlin went with warm-toned spring poppies and massive parrot tulips with large white amaryllis and fresh mangos and lemons to brighten up the wood-filled space. Ashley at Studio I Do selected a two-piece gown and gorgeous chunky necklace to dress the urban bride, who looked stunning against the black and wood exterior of the building.
