When a couple unifies through marriage, each of their families becomes an important and intricate part of their new life together. So what better occasion than the wedding to begin showing your support of family traditions and honoring relatives? Small touches like incorporating family photos or heirloom jewelry into your bouquet, decor or attire can make lost loved ones feel present and part of the big day. Or consider including traditional family foods, a favorite song, or even nostalgic slide show into the ceremony or reception.
Photographer Caitlin Gerres styled this shoot to pay tribute to her great grandmother, who passed away in September at 100 years old. The emerald and purple color palette was inspired by a blanket she made for Gerres as a child. Vintage jewelry, furniture and table settings created a classic and elegant feel.
These photos show why one should not forget family ties when tying the knot. Intimate details can make all the difference.
