Care-A-Lot Charitable Foundation is excited to announce their first Fall Fur Adoption event taking place this Saturday, Oct. 14 in Virginia Beach. The free, family- and pet-friendly event strives to find permanent homes for dogs, cats and even reptiles throughout Hampton Roads, as well as raise funds for local rescue organizations.
Care-A-Lot Pet Supply is a locally owned family-run business that has supported local communities for nearly 30 years. Proceeds from their Fall Fur Adoption event will directly benefit local rescues. “Our event was developed to bring further awareness to the challenges that face our local rescues at SPCAs,” says Care-A-Lot Special Events Coordinator Kaitlyn Morse. “We hope this event will result in multiple pets finding their FURever homes, as well as raising money to help further the amazing work that these rescues do every day.”
According to Bobbly Clarke, owner of Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, 11,500 pets were rendered homeless in Hampton Roads in 2016. He hopes that this event will not only raise awareness about the adoption process, but make an actual difference in the lives of many animals in need of loving families.
Ten different animal rescues including Norfolk SPCA, the Chesapeake Humane Society, Old Dominion Greyhound Adoption and Hope for Life Rescue will attend Saturday’s event along with several adoptable pets. Each organization will provide families with information about the adoption process including cost and veterinary requirements. Pet food suppliers including Blue Buffalo, Nestle Purina, Royal Canin and Nature’s Variety will also offer advice on the best food for attendees’ new pets.
In addition, kids can enjoy playing games and making crafts in the Kids’ Zone and participating in the pet and people costume contest. Over 15 local crafters, vendors and two food trucks, Ferg’s Missing Ingredient and All About the Cheese, will provide guests with beautiful homemade goods and delicious fare. Guests are also in for a special treat as the Norfolk International Airport Police Department and the Coast Guard are set to demonstrate the extraordinary skills of their K-9 division.
The Fall Fur Adoption event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Care-A-Lot Pet Supply located at 1617 Diamond Springs Rd., Virginia Beach. See the complete schedule of events here.
