Town Center of Virginia Beach is bounding with Christmas cheer at its inaugural Snow Globe Spectacular. Now through Dec. 23, giant snow globes will stand proudly at various points throughout the shopping district and will display a plethora of holiday scenes from “Polar Expressions” to “Dachshund Through the Snow.”
Each globe showcases nostalgic holiday scenes and decorative Christmas trees designed by local creative consultants of AC Garr Inc. Co-founder Cheri Garr encourages onlookers to keep a special eye out for Townie the Penguin, an artic plush friend who is hidden in every globe throughout Town Center.
Come nightfall, these statuesque globes come to life with twirling ballerinas, marching toy soldiers, dancing elves and Frosty the Snowman pianists. Even the lights on the Plaza Tree come alive as they dance along to popular Christmas tunes. Both snow globe and tree entertainments are held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in half-hour and hour increments respectively.
Just across the street from the dazzling plaza is Santa’s Cottage, also designed by the AC Garr team. At Santa’s Cottage, children can write letters to the North Pole or visit with Saint Nick himself as he reads through his naughty and nice list. If you’re up for a challenge, search for the shiny green pickle tucked away in the village tree.
Parents can use the cottage as their secret wrapping station too and take advantage of complimentary gift wrapping supplies.
Still have more shopping to do? Head over to the lower plaza for a festive Artisan Market filled with one-of-a-kind gifts by local artists. Vendors are present on Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday afternoons from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 2 to 6 p.m.
Armada Hoffler Properties is sponsoring free Lyft rides for patrons who spend $30 or more at Town Center retailers.
